A Short Story…
“If you spent more than 5 minutes on a newspaper, you’re not too smart,” my uncle used to say.
That was over 20 years ago. I learned the reading culture from him. He was a great man. He brought the newspaper home every time he visited the village. Two copies of the Standard Newspaper and the Daily Nation. I always rushed to read before my dad, who would spend the whole day on both copies.
“The news is in the headline, and the first paragraph,” he would add. “Everything else is bullsh*t. By reading less, you read more.”
I learned the art of brevity from my uncle, understanding headlines - the art of consuming massive information.
So Why Publish the AYA
It’s in the headline, and the first paragraph, everything else is bullshit.
We launched The Daily AYA with the motivation that news should be simple.
